How to Store your Corsets Perfectly?

Each year or sometimes each month, you keep on adding different dresses to your wardrobe. But just adding them does not help; you also need to take care of them properly to wear them when you need to. In your collection of dresses, you may also love to have a section where you can have corsets that you can wear for different purposes. Like the dresses, you need to take care of the corsets to take care of your waist training in the right way. Often, many women make many mistakes while storing the corsets and end up damaging them. Here are some of the important ways how you should store your corsets so that you can protect them from any damages.

Close the Corsets:

The first thing you should keep in mind is that you need to close the corsets properly before storing them. This means you have to button up all the busks or have to zip the corset if it has. Also, you have to tighten the laces in such a way that the edges are closed. When it is all closed from all the sides, it is the best possible way to store the corset.

Now, why should you close the corset from all sides before storing it?

One of the eminent reasons is to keep it in shape. You try hard and spend several days seasoning the corset so that you can wear it comfortably. How will you feel if you find the comfort zone gone each time when you take out the corset from the wardrobe? Thus, if you wish to keep them in shape, make sure you are closing all the busks, zips, and laces before storing them.

Make use of Corset Bags:

You might think that when you are hanging your most expensive dresses in the wardrobe, should you require a corset bag for your corset? So, it would help if you remembered this once again that there is a lot of difference between your usual expensive dress and a corset that you have. Your dress is made up of just fabric, but your corset is made up of fabric as well as steel bones. Thus, it would help if you took extra care of the corset.

When you store the corset in a corset bag, you keep them safe and protected from pests, humidity, and heat. Also, the laces will not get tangled with any other thing in the wardrobe that would otherwise damage the corset.

Hanging or Laying:

Many people often get confused about whether they should hang the corset or lay them flat. Now, you can do both depending upon the area that you have in the wardrobe. When you hang the corsets, make sure that you are hanging them high enough so that the bottom edges do not get folded.

If you do not have enough high hanging areas to hang the corsets, you can also lay them flat. You should make sure that you have a dedicated area for the corsets in such a case. You cannot start piling up heaps of other dresses or other items on the corsets. This will again damage the corset.

Fold or Not:

Many experts might say that you can fold the corset to store them, while many others might say not to fold them. Of course, one of the major reasons for not folding them is that the corset fabric can get curled up if you have folded and kept the corset for a much longer time. But this will depend upon the type of corset that you have.

You can easily fold or roll your fashion corset and store them to save space in your drawer or cupboards. But if you have a steel boned waist training corset, it is always better to keep them straight and store them in corset bags.

Tips to Keep in Mind

While you have understood several ways to store the corset, there are some important points that you should keep in mind while doing so.

  • If you have been wearing the corset for a pretty long time, you should make sure to dry out the sweat from the corset; else it will create a bad odour. If there are any stains, try to remove them before storing them else; this can become rigid afterwards.
  • If you have washed the corset or have even spot cleaned the corset, make sure to dry the corset well in the sun. Else, the moisture can damage the steel bone.

Storing the corset is an important task if you wish to wear the corset for a long time. Just know the simple tricks of storing corsets so that they can keep going with you for long.

Cinchers and corsets both have some pros and cons. You need to choose the ideal one according to your body needs. Here the pros and cons of waist cinchers and corsets are described below:
